                           $22.00/per hour

Position Summary:

The Facilities Assistant works closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure all aspects of grounds management, general maintenance, and inventory management are accomplished. The Facilities Assistant ensures all volunteers are briefed and supervised.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Grounds Management:
  • Maintains grounds, landscaping, and lawncare.
  • Assists in coordinating with landscaping organizations on projects to improve the grounds.
  • Oversees, prepares a schedule and task list, and manages the volunteers while on site.
  • With the Facilities Manager, provide 24-hour on-call troubleshooting for all facility issues and equipment.
  • Due to the change of seasons, grounds maintenance will change, and the maintenance schedule will be adapted. A task list will be created.
  • Promptly notify the Facilities Manager of any issues or deficiencies identified while performing duties.
  • All other duties as assigned.

General Maintenance & Inventory Management
  • Assist in improving existing properties and facilities.
  • Assist in maintaining quality control of buildings – replacing or repairing facility elements as they become unsafe or unserviceable.
  • Identify opportunities for improved efficiency or cost-saving measures for the facility.
  • Regularly inspect the property for damage.
  • Advise the Facilities Manager regarding the need for supplies and tools to be ordered or reordered.
  • Advise Facilities Manager of any general security and risk management of facilities to ensure the safety for all veterans, family members, employees, volunteers, and guests.
  • Track any repair and maintenance invoices and submit for approval to the Facilities Manager.
  • Support other departments when needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
 
  • Must be 21 years old to operate Foundation vehicles and equipment.
  • Must be able to work independently and problem-solve without supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, and construction.
  • Able to run and operate power equipment, tractors, bucket loaders, skid steers, excavators, mowers, plow trucks, etc.
